About our Government
The Town of Hurtsboro is committed to improving the quality of life in Hurtsboro. A five member Council governs the town. The Town Council is comprised of the Mayor and Council members who have been elected to serve a four-year term.
The Mayor and Council members are the leaders and policy makers in the community and concentrate on policy issues that are responsive to residents' needs and wishes.
The Mayor is the head of the administrative branch of the Town Government and is responsible to the Council for the proper administration of all affairs of the Town. Also working with Council is the Town Clerk. This individual is the Custodian of Records which includes all minutes, resolutions, ordinances and codes of the City.
The Town Clerk is also the Town’s Chief Election Official and is responsible for the administration of municipal elections.
This comprehensive team is headquartered at Town Hall and is vital to the future progress of our citizens and state.

Duties of the Mayor:
The mayor is the presiding officer and shall preside at meetings of the council, and shall be recognized as the head of the city government for all ceremonial purposes and by the governor for purposes of military law, but shall have no regular administrative duties.

The Council establishes policies and priorities for the provision of effective and efficient municipal services. The Council meets on the second Tuesday of every month in a regular session at 6:00 pm in the Council Chamber located in the Town Hall Complex.
